Purdue University's interior design program is ranked nationally by DesignIntelligence: The Almanac of Architecture and Design.
The Patti and Rusty Rueff Department of Visual and Performing Arts interior design program is ranked 14th. Purdue tied with five other interior design programs in this year's rankings, which were released this month.
Purdue's graduate and undergraduate programs ranked third and fourth, respectively, in DesignIntelligence's Midwest region rankings. Also, receiving regional recognition in the 2008 survey was Purdue's industrial design undergraduate program, which ranked 13th, and the graduate program 10th in the Midwest region.
The national rankings for interior design are based on the number of design firms and practitioners hiring Purdue graduates and the program's technology, studio and library resources.
More than 170 Purdue students major in interior design, and more than 110 students study industrial design. Both are part of the Division of Art and Design. The interior design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design, and the industrial design program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
